Evidence Based Practice in Mental Health

item4a1aDr. Cullen-Drill is a Registered Nurse with a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis both from Columbia University School of Nursing; she holds a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. Dr. Cullen-Drill is board certified by the American Nurses Association and is licensed by the State of New Jersey and New York as an Advanced Practice Nurse. She is an adjunct professor in the graduate program in the School of Nursing at Columbia University and is a Diplomat of Comprehensive Care. Dr. Cullen-Drill has published in national peer review nursing journals, serves on the editorial review board of The Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services and is an expert reviewer for Perspectives In Psychiatric Care and The European Journal of Psychiatry. She has lectured on mental health issues and the use of psychotropic medication and presented at professional conferences. She has extensive experience in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.

Evidence-Based Practice is an approach to health care in which treatment is based on the most current scientific research. Dr. Cullen-Drill is up-to-date on the latest research in psychiatric care, including psycotherapeutic interventions, psychiatric medications, and psycho-education.

What Is an Advanced Practice Nurse?

An Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a Registered Nurse with a Masters or Doctoral Degree in a nursing specialty and advanced training in pharmacology. He or she is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing to practice as an APN with prescriptive authority.

The Advanced Practice Nurse Provides Medication Management for Clients of Other Mental Health Providers

As a psychiatric APN, Dr. Cullen-Drill is experienced working with psychologists, clinical social workers and other mental health clinicians in providing medication management for their clients. Her extensive nursing and mental health experience enables her to give high quality care to their patients. Dr. Cullen-Drill communicates regularly with the clients' clinician to coordinate care.
